The Best Birthday EVER!

Sadie is 9 already! She's been eagerly anticipating her birthday for quite awhile so we made a few plans hoping that she'd have a great birthday. First, she wanted to go to ToyRUs to use her gift card from Grandma and Grandpa Mattox. She knew EXACTLY what she wanted!
Then we decided to have lunch. We got a couple Little Cesear pizza's and went to the park. They were having a good time and then a couple of ducks wandered close hoping to be fed. I suggested Sadie give it some of her pizza crust (which my kids never eat) and then it began. First the kids were feeding the ducks, then a squirrel, then the seagulls flew in, and then the small black birds! Then my kids were digging their pizza crusts out of the garbage just to be able to feed all the animals! They LOVED it! The ducks would eat out of their hands. Her birthday could've ended right here because this is when they started yelling that it was the best birthday ever!We went home for a bit but then Sadie had asked if we could go to Chapala's for her birthday dinner. I chalked it up as my birthday dinner too, so we went. Sadie begged for us to tell the waitress it was her birthday but once we did, she spent the rest of the time worrying about them coming to sing to her! *sigh* That's my Sadie! So when they came she turned away and wouldn't even look at them!But she got over it and enjoyed her ice cream. Then we all passed the hat around and took pictures of us all in the hat! :)
Then that night we had her birthday cake and she opened presents and was the happiest girl ever. I can't believe that my little girl is so big and so beautiful. She's a sweet influence in our home and we're all grateful that she's a part of our family. Happy Birthday, Sadie! We love you!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yup. I'm now at the ripe ol' age of 35 and loving every minute of it! I really have been trying to eat better (and better yet people are noticing that I'm slimming down! Yay!) but on my birthday is one of those rare chances I get to make something that everyone HAS to taste because IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! :) So we tried this cake/cheesecake/creamy concoction. It was soooo good but soooo rich! We could only eat a sliver at a time.

But it was the only thing I had to cook on my birthday.

Luke made me pancakes for breakfast. Casey made me a sausage, egg and cheese bagel, a tuna sandwich for lunch, and oatmeal for dinner. The kids were sick so oatmeal was well received. :) It was the perfect day off. No cooking and just lazin' around watching my old Disney movies I got myself for my birthday and watching The Rear Window that Casey gave me. Surprisingly, my kids really liked it...but who doesn't like Hitchcock!

I love my family and what's better is, I know they love me! :) Thanks for making it a great birthday!

My Sadie's Sewing!

Okay, what's crazy is that one year ago Sadie didn't want to have anything to do with sewing and the sewing machine scared her. But all of a sudden, she was asking to sew a bag. She set up her machine, she picked out her fabric, told me what she wanted it to look like and then pestered me until I got around to getting everything ready for her.

And then, as luck would have it (for me!), grandma came to visit! So grandma helped Sadie sew her bag.

(Had to pull out her glasses so she could really be like grandma.)

She succeeded! She was really good for her first time giving sewing a try! She's extremely proud of her bag. She even took it to school to show her teacher who has a sewing machine but has yet to sew with it. Hopefully she inspired her but even if she didn't, Sadie's inspired both her sisters...now they want to sew bags, too! May the pestering begin...again. :)

Birds of Prey

We went to the World Center for Birds of Prey again for their family free day. Grandma and Grandpa Rawson came with us, too, but they wandered off with Luke when we stopped to make those fabulous water bottle birds you see Sadie holding. :) We saw an American Kestrel during the presentation and have since seen one in our backyard...which my kids promptly identified by name! I think that means our trip was a success!
